San Marcos and Lockhart took different routes into the playoffs Friday night. Cavion Garner scored two touchdowns, and Kaleb Johnson recorded 128 receiving yards in the fourth quarter of the Rattlers’ 35-17 victory over visiting Lockhart. San Marcos’ 18-point triumph — combined with Alamo Heights’ 71-57 loss to Kerrville Tivy — forced a three-way tie for third place in the District 27-5A standings, and two recently approved tiebreakers allowed the Rattlers and Lions to advance into the postseason.
